Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 14, 2026
Amburd LLC ("Company," "we," "us") operates BillError.com ("Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
1. Our Approach: Minimal Data Collection
BillError is designed to minimize data collection. We do not require accounts, logins, uploads, or payments. Our client-side tools (bill math checker, dispute letter generator) run entirely in your browser — the data you enter never leaves your device.
2. Information We Collect
| Data Type | What We Collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Server logs | IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps | Standard web server operation, security, abuse prevention |
| Contact form | Name, email, message (only if you submit the contact form) | To respond to your inquiry |
We do NOT collect:
- Medical bills, financial documents, or any uploaded files (we have no upload functionality)
- Health data, insurance information, or billing codes you enter into our client-side tools
- Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, or payment information
- Account credentials (we have no user accounts)
3. Client-Side Tools
Our bill math checker and dispute letter generator run entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. The information you type into these tools:
- Is processed locally on your device
- Is never transmitted to our servers
- Is not stored anywhere after you close or refresh the page
- Cannot be accessed by us or any third party through our Site
4. API-Backed Tools
Our NCCI code pair checker and CPT/HCPCS lookup tools make requests to our server, which queries public government APIs (CMS Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, NLM Clinical Tables). For these tools:
- We receive the billing codes you enter as query parameters in the URL
- We do not log or store the specific codes you look up
- Responses come from public government data sources
5. Advertising
This Site may display advertisements through Google AdSense or similar advertising networks. These advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Serve ads based on your interests and browsing history across websites
- Measure ad performance
- Limit the number of times you see an ad
Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
6. Referral Links
This Site may contain referral links to third-party services. When you click a referral link:
- You leave BillError and are subject to the third party's privacy policy
- The third party may know you came from BillError via the HTTP referrer header
- We may receive confirmation that a referral occurred (but not your personal data)
Referral links are labeled with a disclosure. We do not share your personal information with referral partners.
7. Cookies
BillError itself uses only one cookie: a localStorage entry for your dark/light theme preference. This is stored locally in your browser and never sent to our servers.
If advertising is enabled on the Site, advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) may set their own cookies. See Section 5 above for details and opt-out options.
8. Data Retention
- Server logs: Standard web server access logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes, then deleted.
- Contact form submissions: Retained until the inquiry is resolved, then deleted.
- Client-side tool data: Not retained — it exists only in your browser's memory during your session.
9. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your data.
- Hosting provider: Our web hosting provider processes server logs as part of normal operations.
- Advertising networks: If ads are enabled, advertising partners may collect data through their own cookies (see Section 5).
- Law enforcement: Only if required by law (subpoena, court order, etc.).
We do not share data with data brokers, insurance companies, healthcare providers, or any other third parties.
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident: we collect minimal personal information (server log data only). We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To request access to or deletion of your data, email privacy@billerror.com.
11. Other State Privacy Laws
If you are a resident of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Washington, or other states with consumer privacy laws, you have rights to access, delete, and correct your data. Because we collect minimal data (server logs only), there is very little to access or delete. Contact privacy@billerror.com to exercise your rights.
12. Children's Privacy
This Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
